Waterfront Training Center

Carpenter2_edited.jpg

Located in the Museum's Main Hall, the new Waterfront South Training Center is home to the Carpenters Union Pre-Apprenticeship program. The purpose for the program is to give those Camden youth, both who've completed the Urban BoatWorks program and others who have not, opportunities to break the cycle of poverty with workforce training.

The Training Center began with an inaugural class of 10 Camden, NJ residents from public housing developments between the ages of 17-27. Training is full-time between January through March. After completion, a select number will be selected to move on to the full Carpenters Apprenticeship Program in Hammonton, NJ and the balance will be guaranteed employment at The Michaels Organization or two other employers identified by the Camden Housing Authority.
